Chapter 63: My First Anniversary

Today is my first anniversary in London. Exactly one year ago (January 10th of 2012) I arrived to this city. Long time… but the adventures must to continue. Many things and many changes in my life from then. For this reason I have decided to choose the 10 chapters that I consider most important. It hasn’t been easy, because there are a lot. But this is in my opinion the best of the best.

Chapter 62: The Magic Kings???

There aren’t Magic Kings in this country. Just Santa Claus, who is the person who brings the gifts for the children (and for the adults). The Christmas finishes earlier here. Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. That’s all. So boring British people!!! I miss a lot January 6th in Spain.

Según el Wordreference, mi biblia particular para traducir alguna palabra, los Reyes Magos son aquí “The Wise Men” (que sería algo así como los hombres sabios), “Three Kings” (como la película de George Clooney) o “The Magi” (que suena a marca de sopa de sobre). Estos ingleses son muy sosos. Hasta para el nombre de Melchor, Gaspar y Baltasar son simples.

Chapter 61: Happy New Year!!!

First, I want to wish a happy new year to everyone. Second, I want to thank to all the people that have read my blog because more than 5.000 visitors have spent their time doing it. I’m so grateful. By other side, it was my first New Year’s Eve in London and it was so different than in Spain. Here, the people are a little bit more boring to celebrate it. Anyway, I enjoyed with many Spaniards far away from our country.

Ni campanadas, ni uvas, ni nada que se le parezca. Aquí reciben el año de una forma bastante más sosa.

Chapter 60: Christmas Time

It’s Christmas Time and I’m going to my village for Holidays. It’s time to enjoy with the family and the friends. So, as Sergio Ramos said in the Real Madrid’s video: “I we hof all of you have […] Morry Christmas”. More or less, Sergio. So sorry, Shakespeare.

Chapter 59: Football, that’s it!

I was waiting for it long time. I love football. I have said it several times in this blog. For this reason I wanted to see a match in UK. I was so expectant to see a Premier’s game in a stadium. And finally, last Monday I did it. I went to see Fulham-Newcastle. Great match in a very cold and small stadium. But it was really nice. I’m so happy for it.

El estadio del Fulham es bastante peculiar. Es muy pequeñito y se puede ver el fútbol perfectamente desde casi cualquier sitio. Los asientos (de madera por cierto) estaban bien situados. Lo peor era el frío que hacía, porque es un campo rectangular pero con las esquinas abiertas, con lo cual entra el aire por todos lados. Además está junto al río, por lo que el ambiente en noches londinenses como la del lunes, es helador. En ese sentido me recuerda un poco al Manzanares.

Chapter 58: Rock & humour

Rock is my favourite kind of music. And humour is the sauce of the life. So, for that reason I enjoyed a lot last week with two wonderful spectacles. One of them was a comical monologue from Ernesto Sevilla, a comic man that makes me laughing a lot. The other one was a concert of Marea, one of my favourite rock’s groups. Many spectacles in the last days. But now, as Freddy Mercury sang, “the show must go on!!!”.

Chapter 57: Theatre, theatre, theatre

Last week I went to the theatre twice. I saw two plays, Singin’ in the rain and Yerma. Two very different performances, from two difference worlds and very different feelings. One of them is funny musical from Hollywood and Broadway. The other one is a deep tragedy from the rural Spain. The first one was in English. The second one in Spanish. Gene Kelly and Lorca. Lorca and Gene Kelly. Two different universes for two wonderful stories.

Londres tiene estas cosas. Estas cosas maravillosas, por otra parte. Puedes ir a ver un musical genial, con un montaje espectacular al más puro estilo Broadway, y días más tarde descubrir una obra de Lorca en una pequeña sala en las entrañas de un clásico pub inglés.
