Chapter 57: Theatre, theatre, theatre

Last week I went to the theatre twice. I saw two plays, Singin’ in the rain and Yerma. Two very different performances, from two difference worlds and very different feelings. One of them is funny musical from Hollywood and Broadway. The other one is a deep tragedy from the rural Spain. The first one was in English. The second one in Spanish. Gene Kelly and Lorca. Lorca and Gene Kelly. Two different universes for two wonderful stories.

Londres tiene estas cosas. Estas cosas maravillosas, por otra parte. Puedes ir a ver un musical genial, con un montaje espectacular al más puro estilo Broadway, y días más tarde descubrir una obra de Lorca en una pequeña sala en las entrañas de un clásico pub inglés. Sigue leyendo

Chapter 56: Spain doesn’t work

Today there is in Spain a general strike. Some people haven’t gone to work, some of them because of they don’t have a job and another ones because they are protesting against the cost-cuttings measures of the Government and another problems that have the population: unemployment, more taxes, less public services…

Chapter 55: Halloween, UK’s Carnival

Halloween is not Carnival, but it’s the feast in this country that looks more like that one. Last weekend I was in a fancy dresses’ party and there were many people dressed up. Also, last Monday my company did a ‘Halloween lunch’ and it was so funny as well. As I like a lot to dress up, I did it for both parties. I wore a Crisis’ fancy dress, and it was so funny!!!

A falta de carnavales, buenos son Halloweens. Y así me he tomado esta fiesta anglosajona que es lo más parecido al carnaval que se puede ver por estos lares (mejor que lo de Notting Hill). Sin comparar (of course), que para mí sigue estando primero Cádiz y después el resto del mundo. Sigue leyendo
